A few kilometres after the bustling centre of Sorrento is the delightful town of Massa Lubrense, perched on the hill over the tiny port of Marina della Lobra. The road continues from there along one of Italy's most beautiful coastlines, amongst olive trees and thick Mediterranean vegetation. This stretch of peninsula was the retreat of some of the Roman Empire's most notable patricians, who built magnificent seaside villas; the remains of one is still visible at Punta San Lorenzo.

Villa San Lorenzo is one of the Sorrento's loveliest villas: it features sea frontage with boat landing and a private sea water swimming pool, set on a paved terrace equipped with sun loungers, pergola, shower, telephone and refrigerator. While enjoying uninterrupted views of the island of Capri and the whole Bay of Naples back to Mount Vesuvius, it is hard to imagine a more beautiful setting than this extraordinary villa offers.

The villa is set out on three levels about 30 metres above the sea. Each level has paved terraces surrounded by a rich array of potted flowers, ferns, ceramics and other treasures and mostly shaded by ancient olive trees. On the main level, a large outdoor table setting for ten people beneath a cane pergola provides a perfect opportunity for outdoor entertainment.

The interiors of the formal living area are comfortably-furnished and decorated with many personal touches. Beautiful paintings, a generous library and objects collected over many years adorn the shelves and mantles, creating a homey atmosphere. The bedroom
areas are more casually furnished in beach house style and reveal the owners’ interest in yachts and sailing.

All rooms open through French doors to shaded terraces, courtyards or balconies. Designed for maximum tranquillity, there are six separate outdoor areas where one can escape to relax and enjoy the views or take in some sun and listen to the sounds of the sea below.

Main entrance to a large formal living and dining room surrounded by balconies and terraces with large opening French doors on all sides.

Fully equipped kitchen with breakfast table, with
double doors leading onto the outdoor eating area;
Bathroom with shower.

External stairs lead up to upper level, featuring:

Living room opening to terrace;
Two twin bedrooms - can be made into doubles;
Double bedroom, with Queen-sized bed, opening to private shaded terrace;
Bathroom (with tub) and utility/storage room.

Descending again to the main living area at ground floor, a circular slate staircase leads to the lower level, featuring:

Two single bedrooms opening to paved terraces;
Two bathrooms, one with shower, the other with shower and tub.
Access: Private street descending from main road, remote-controlled gates, 20 wide steps from car parking to villa. Car desirable.
Facilities: Shaded parking for two cars; central heating; barbecue; dishwasher, washing machine, telephone, 2 TV, Swimming pool 8x4m., 2m.deep; Shower and telephone by pool.
Services: English speaking local manager, Maid service: 6 hrs cleaning, three hours twice a week. A fee is levied for this service.
