We believe that Sorrento and Campania are
alive with myth and legend! In centuries long past, mermaids reputedly lived
on the Sorrento Peninsula, while sailors were lured onto the rocks by the
evocative songs of the Sirens. That magic still survives today, so we're
pleased to offer a full range of vacation villas to travelers
looking to explore the enchanting world of Sorrento.
As if the colourful cliffs of Sorrento weren't enough, this
region overlooks the Bay of Naples toward Mount
Vesuvius (the active volcano that once buried the Roman city of
Pompeii), Naples, and the islands of Iscia and
Procida. Romantic and fascinating, the Sorrento Peninsula has
a deeply felt beauty and a profound sense of history. Further south of the
Neapolitan Riviera is the ancient Greek city of Paestum.
Vacation Villas offers an assortment of private villas that
are both cozy and affordable.
Traveling Sorrento
Protruding out into the Mediterranean sea on Italy’s west coast, the
Sorrento Peninsula is undoubtedly one of the Mediterranean’s most beautiful
areas. It is much more than just a lovely town. The peninsula is central to
many attractions including the Amalfi Coast and Positano, the Isle of Capri,
the city of Naples, Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius to mention only a few.
Orientation
After Sorrento, the coastal road winds for 7 kilometres through olive groves
and magnificent views over the Bay of Naples before arriving at the town
of Massalubrense—with its ancient Duomo and main street lined with
shady trees.
You sense that you have left the tourist crowds behind as the local traffic
goes about its daily business at a slower pace. Down town by the water is
the original fishing village of Marina della Lobra, home to the local fishermen
and some Francescan monks who inhabit the wonderful frescoed church.
Local Information
Sorrento is the major transport hub in the area with trains for Naples station,
buses to the airport and ferries to Naples, Capri and Positano. Local buses
travel the length of the peninsula from Sorrento, but they are infrequent.
We recommend that our guests book cars prior to arriving in the area.
There are a number of beaches in Sorrento, and our local manager will provide
more details about when you arrive. The Marina del Cantone, Puolo, Recommone,
Sorrento and other secluded beaches merely hint at the possibilities.
We have also organized some special services for our villa guests. When you
reserve your villa, ask about boat outings, hiring a pizza cook to give
you a lesson in your own wood fired pizza oven (when available), babysitting,
wine tours, transfers to and from the airport, guided walks, entry to private
pool clubs, guided tours etc. Our local managers are there to see to all
your needs.
Things to do in Sorrento
There are no end of things to do in this area, including:
According to the Guida dell’Espresso 2000, Italy’s leading restaurant
guide, the emerging restaurants are to be found in Southern Italy, where
the flavours still retain their authenticity.
