Our Il
Castello villa is located in the tiny, picturesque lakeside village of Santa
Maria Rezzonico,
on the western shore of Lake Como. The village is delightful, and has the
only sandy beach in the area-- one of the few spots on the lake where
the
water is still clean enough for swimming. It’s an absolutely peaceful
setting, with striking views of the opposite shore and the mountains.
The rental apartment is at street level, on a cobbled little road that begins
at the Castle and meanders down to the lake. It was recently refurbished,
and
features white-washed walls and rustic cotto floors; windows and entrance
door are double-glazed.
Just outside is the piazzetta of St. Antonio, with a lovely small church where
Mass is celebrated once each week. At walking distance (300 m) there is a
trattoria/pizzeria, alimentari shop at 100m. Parking in the piazzetta or 50
m. below the Castello.
