The region of Lake Como provides both mountainous and Mediterranean vistas, and an incredible and wide variety of vegetation and landscape. It's truly one of the most scenic spots in all of Italy.

The Lake has a turned Y form, with two different shores and jurisdictions, Lecco and Como. On the Lecco branch of Lake Como lies the quaint village of Lierna, with its Lombard fortress looking out into the lake and the Bellagio headland; local legends claim that Queen Teodolinda of Lombardy stayed there many centuries ago.

The castle has now been transformed into numerous dwellings with gardens and orchards still protected by the original walls. With its two beaches La Riva Bianca and La Riva Nera, Lierna is an very popular holiday resort. It is located along the lakeside road and the local railway line, which runs along the Lake all the way from Milan to the border with Switzerland.

Small local trains run from 6.00 am to 10.00 pm; they stop in Lierna, 300 m from Via Ducale offer the opportunity for day trips to Milan and Switzerland.

From the coastal road in the town of Lierna an uphill road or a short walk along a pedestrian road takes guests to a complex of holiday apartments with pool looking over the lake and Bellagio and surrounded by a grassy garden.

Via Ducale lies inside a complex features 19 apartments spread into 2 units mainly used as second houses for short periods . It was designed in the '60s by a famous Milanese architect and retains modern features, yet it conforms with the surroundings and traditional lakeside dwellings.

A staircase leads to the second level of the unit into:

• Living room with fireplace, opening to the terrace; the sofa converts into a comfortable bed
• Dinner table for 4
• Small kitchen opening to a back terrace
• Furnished terrace with view of the lake

A door leads to the night area:

• Double bedroom with window opening to the side of the unit
• Bathroom with tub
