A pretty villa by Lake Como

The region of Lake Como provides both mountainous and Mediterranean vistas with an incredible variety of vegetation. It’s one of Italy's most scenic spots. Nestled in the mountains with its buildings suspended almost vertically above the lake lies the old village of Cremia. Its Roman origins are reflected in the ruins, 100 m. above the lake. Across the lake lie beautiful views of the Valtellina Mountains.

Between the village and Lake Como is Casa Cremia, a rental villa built in 1858, recently reconverted into a delightful shabby-chic villa. It's surrounded by a lawn, and all around, chestnuts and other trees mingle with oleanders, hydrangeas, palm trees. A stream runs nearby and forms a small waterfall, whose gentle sound contributes to the idyllic atmosphere of the place. According to the owner, it releases a healthy ion exchange, a boon to those with respiritory difficulties, and beneficial to everyone!

The villa has been renovated with children’s safety in mind and many outdoor games are available for the younger guests.

Accommodation: (approx. 90 sqm)
The cottage has retained its rustic features, such as the original Lombard terracotta tiles, the internal stone staircase and timbered ceilings in all rooms. The windows are also original and feature attractive red shutters.

At ground floor is:

• Kitchen with fireplace and a small breakfast table, opening to a small portico.

At mezzanine floor is:

• Living room, with sitting area near the large stone fireplace and views of the lake.
• Dining table
• Cozy double bedroom - bed is a 3/4 or French bed

A flight of steps leads upstairs to:

• Double bedroom, with gondola bed and other lovely antique pieces

A few more steps to:

• Small landing, set as a study area with its own window.
• Shower room
• Single bedroom, with a fireplace and writing desk.

Access: Free parking is available in the main parking piazza;about 250 meters walk from the house, involving a short uphill, an unpaved track and a sloping grassy area, finishing with some steps down to the house; the centre of the village, with general store for simple shopping and bar is within 500 m. Distances: 125 km to Milano • 46 km to Como • 10 km to Menaggio (hydrofoils to Como, Bellagio, Varenna).
