Rental Villas in Amalfi & Positano

Situated on the Gulf of Salerno—not far from Naples and Salerno—the Amalfi Coast boasts 50 kilometres of the most beautiful coastline in Italy. Mountains rise from crystal clear blue waters and hidden bays, and we marvel at the tenacity of early inhabitants who built towns such as Positano, Praiano, Amalfi and Ravello in this steeply sloping terrain.

Positano
From Sorrento, it’s about 30 minutes (14 km) across the peninsula and down the an exhilarating cliff drive to Positano— a beautiful town perched above the sea, renowned for its colorful bougainvillea, and for many fine shops and restaurants.

Positano is set on two hills, with the lies the center of town residing in the valley.

The road in Positano stops outside the town’s central area, and the final two hundred meters to its large beach with bars and restaurants are strictly pedestrian. Within 10 minutes, on foot,a variety of villa options await.

Life in Positano has always been centered on sea, and it remains so today. From the jetty, there are regular ferry services to Sorrento, Amalfi and Capri, and small boats will drop you at inaccessible beaches or coves should you wish to escape civilization.

There is a also local shuttle (but not for that last 200 meters!) and regular bus services towards Sorrento or Amalfi and Salerno. Using a car in central Positano during summer isn’t recommended as parking is hard to find and expensive. We have negotiated some preferential parking for those who require a car, but please give us plenty of notice to reserve you a spot.

Village life
The incomparable views, the scent of a fresh sea breeze during hot summer days, or the delightful tranquillity of village life (and the proximity to Positano or Amalfi) make holidays in one of the smaller coastal villages most appealing.

Suspended over Positano, the village of Montepertuso offers an excellent view of Positano and an array of the best region’s restaurants. In the piazza, you’ll the of start the Trail of Gods (Il Sentiero degli Dei). Contact us for details!

Praiano
Further down the road towards Amalfi sits the village of Praiano, 100 meters above sea level. While not as glamorous as Positano, it’s authentic and charming. The central piazza, nestled around the old church, has not changed in 200 years and hosts the evening passeggiata. A few minutes drive toward uptown Praiano is Casa del Sogno.

Amalfi
This small seaside town once had a population of 70,000 when—during the 11th century—it was a world naval power. Many reminders of Amalfi’s history still exist, including its artisan paper industry and the town itself.

Not to be missed are the Duomo (dating from 10th century), the paper museum, and the original navigation tables in the Civic Museum. Nearby is the Grotta dello Smeraldo, a cave which is only accessible from the water. Of course, everyone must try at least one delizia di limone (lemon delicious) from the pasticceria in the Duomo piazza.

A kilometre from Amalfi’s center, perched on the water's edge, is Villa Bizantina. This historical residence is delightful, with its own access to the sea, private sun decks and plunge pools.

Ravello
About seven kilometres (10 minutes by car or bus ) from Amalfi is the town of Ravello, set like a natural balcony in mountains and ravines over the Gulf of Salerno. Rich in scenery, culture, and good living, it’s an ideal summer retreat for travelers seeking an escape from the heat, and time to relax and breathe the fresh air. In July, an outdoor musical festival is hosted in the gardens of Villa Rufolo overlooking the sea.
